Slab Foundation Repair

Of all foundation types, the slab is perhaps the easiest of all to build. A slab is a flat concrete pad poured directly on the ground. It does not take too much to prepare the site and it works well on level sites, particularly on warmer climates as the one we experience here in Hackensack, NJ. There are some signs to look for when the slab foundation requires repair. Fix the cracked slab foundation before it gets out of hand. Slab foundation repair is an area of our expertise.

Causes of Fundamental Problems

One of the main culprits of foundation damage is water. Either too much water, which can cause the soil to swell or not enough water which can cause the soil to sink. If the soil beneath the basis swells or shrinks it can cause the foundation to crack. The movement causes the foundation to crack and do damage. Identifying the problem is easy and noticeable from both the inside and outside of your home.

Problem Identifiers

Once the foundation starts to crack there are some exterior identifiers. When the doors will not open or close properly, there may be a problem with the foundation. Other exterior signs are - Diagonal cracks in the wall at corners of doors and windows gaps between the garage door and the pavement at either side of the garage door and windows that are hard to open and close. Cracks in the exposed grade beam of the house and crack in the brick and mortar are other signs that there is a problem with the foundation.

Problem Identifiers

There are some easy signs that show in the interior of your home. Signs such as unlevel floors, large cracks in the concrete slab, gaps above kitchen cabinets, and leaks and cracks around the fireplace are all signs of foundation problems.
